António Costa Lima Architects presents Casa Altinho, a project marked by its minimal nesting geometries and expressive materiality.
You know more about this very Portuguese project, as well as some images of its result.
Considering its context, the house was probably named for its altitude: situated along the edge of Lisbon, it is a level above Rua da Junqueira level. From the square you get a privileged situation of views of the current Museum of Electricity and the river.
The logistic nature of the building refers to the relationship that the city of Lisbon has since its origin with the river. It is integrated in a zone parallel to the banks of the Tagus where there are factory and logistics warehouses in streets such as Junqueira, Pedrouços, Dom Luís I, Rua da Alfândega, etc.
The option to keep the original walled perimeter is based on the interpretation of the intrinsic value of this mofology in the context of Junqueira and the city.
The house is born from the confrontation of two archetypes - house versus warehouse - confronting shapes, scales and materials. Thus, the house occupies the walled perimeter interspersed with voids filled in different volumes, patios and terraces.
