Who has children at home knows that Easter is not Easter without a genuine egg hunt! In addition to being a very fun activity to liven up the little one on Easter Day, it is also very easy to organize and prepare!

Now that you've decorated the eggs with the kids at home, it's time to prepare the real egg hunt! Let's do it...

The invitations

Get your kids excited and create a little Easter card - on cardboard, in the shape of an egg, to announce that there will be an egg hunt over the Easter weekend.

Surprise them and leave the card where they will see it!

Decorate the eggs

Eggs are the star of this hunt, so you will need some per child - you can choose the traditional boiled eggs that are then decorated in a thousand and one ways, you can purchase colored plastic eggs or use both.

You can decorate the eggs in advance, together with the children and surprise them with your own works of art pu then decorate them after the hunt is done! Check out our ideas here: https://carlomonteiro.pt/en/blog/ideas-for-decorating-easter-eggs-with-children

When it comes to plastic eggs, you can choose those models that can be opened and are perfect for hiding an additional Easter surprise - mini chocolate eggs, a small toy depicting the square or a tip on the whereabouts of other Easter eggs !

Prepare the baskets

In order to collect the eggs they discover during the Easter hunt, children will need a container and the most suitable is, without a doubt, a basket with a good handle. You can always make them more appealing by personalizing them with children. So they will certainly be to everyone's taste.

Hiding Easter Eggs

Ideally, an Easter egg hunt should take place outdoors, in the home garden, for example. But always get a plan B, because if the weather doesn't allow it, you'll have to hunt for Easter eggs indoors. In that case, choose those rooms where children can walk at ease, safely and without the risk of breaking something. And pay attention to the places where you hide the eggs so that none is forgotten!

1,2,3 ... departure!

It has a starting point, from which all children will leave at the time of Easter egg hunt and decorate it with ribbons, balloons and even some cute signs. You can also post arrows or signs with small tips on the hiding of eggs, scattered throughout the enclosure reserved for hunting.

The treasures found

Once all the Easter eggs have been found, take the opportunity to take some pictures of the children with their treasures - you can even create a small Easter scene to make the photos more memorable.
If there is time and availability, prepare a table with paint pencils, diamonds, stickers and other decorative materials, as well as an empty egg box so that each child can decorate their own and then transport the Easter eggs safely. So the baskets can be kept for next year's egg hunt! A tradition to keep ...

Happy Easter and good hunting with the little one!
