Almazán y Arquitectos Asociados, Concepto Taller de Arquitectura and Pin Studio collaborated to create the "interstellar" restaurant in the citibanamex center of the city of mexico.
As the name suggests, the project makes reference to the 2014 science fiction movie, inspired by otherworldly places and the captivating mystery of undiscovered planets.
The design teams' main goal was to "convert emptiness into content, interweaving time and space to create a visually spectacular environment."
To create the restaurant, the architects involved in the project sought to develop a space where anyone visiting the restaurant could enjoy an "out of this world" experience. They decorated the corrugated walls and ceiling with over 250,000 LEDs.
The abundance of lights plunges guests into a bright starry sky, in contrast to the black interior. Mirrored tables also emphasize the experience, allowing guests to see the reflections of thousands of lights as they eat.
In addition to the starry sky, guests can also experience the supernatural theme due to the bookcase at the entrance. There are several books suspended from the ceiling, giving the impression of antigravity, as well as in outer space.
