The general duty of home care remains, which means that citizens can only leave home for authorized travel.

After all, what can you do or not do?

How Easter will be in 2021

  • The general duty of home care remains, which means that citizens can only go on authorized trips, for example, going to work, going to the supermarket, going to the doctor, exercising outdoors, etc;
  • Circulation between municipalities on the 20th and 21st of March and in the Easter period, between March 26th (Friday) and April 5th (Monday) is prohibited. It is important to remember that you cannot go to another municipality before the 26th to spend holidays or visit family because of the general duty of confinement - only authorized travel is allowed;
  • The borders with Spain will be closed during this festive period;
  • Opening hours of the establishments: 9:00 pm during the week; 1 pm on weekends and holidays or 7 pm for food retail (supermarkets);
  • During the week, the prohibition on the sale of alcoholic beverages in retail establishments, including supermarkets and hypermarkets, and on a take-away regime, between 8 pm and 6 am is maintained;

  • Can I go abroad? As of March 15, the ban on travel outside the continental territory, carried out by any means, namely by road, rail, air, river or sea, was lifted - even so, travel can only happen if framed by the exceptions to the general duty of collection;

  • Establishments that received the green light from the Government on March 15 may remain open during Easter by appointment. This is the case of hairdressers, manicurists, bookstores, libraries and archives, and similar places, but also the automobile trade and real estate mediation;

  • Sales to the wicket are maintained;

  • Nurseries, pre-school, 1st cycle and ATLs for the same ages remain open;

  • Religious ceremonies: it is possible to go out to go to mass, however, this year there will be no processions or visits from the cross from house to house. In Fátima, all celebrations will be broadcast online;

And after Easter?

If Portugal remains in the “green zone”, on April 5, the second stage of the deconfination plan will start in the country. If this happens, the Government foresees the opening of the 2nd and 3rd cycles (and ATLs for the same ages); museums, monuments, palaces, art galleries and the like and shops up to 200 m2 with a door to the street must be opened; and open non-food fairs and markets (by municipal decision).

On that day they also open the terraces, with a maximum of four people per month, and the gymnasiums (but without group classes). Low-risk sports and outdoor physical activity for up to four people are also no longer prohibited.
